Billericay Police Station

Project Name

Billericay Police Station was converted by CG Interiors to conform to the Disability Discrimination Act. We removed the existing ramp, front entrance steps, entrance doors and public counter. We converted the existing office, formed a new disabled toilet facility along with other internal office alterations to assist disabled persons accessibility.

This project was to construct an extension to the school to allow for the installation of a new lift. The scope included construction of a new entrance ramp and canopy, alterations to the ground, first and second floor classrooms and refurbishment of existing toilet facilities.

CG Interiors were originally commissioned to carry out the soft strip demolitions and builders work on the existing building. Additional work packages included: - roofing, flooring, new internal block work walls, suspended ceilings, plastering, painting and decorating, structural openings for a new lift installation and new services including the renewal of major plant on the roof were also undertaken.

This waste land site was acquired in July 2007 with the possibility of planning a new build office and warehouse construction. We assisted the clients in obtaining planning permission and with appointment of the lead architect.

Brief Description:The works were all tendered on the basis of mini competition and awarded to CG to carry out over the last year.

We have previously developed a partnership approach to working with LBE and provided a high level of service, not only on planned projects but also reactive.

Our experienced team of DDA specialists work closely with the borough to provide design and installation services across a spectrum of housing stock and public buildings.

Design & Innovation: Planning and design of each space is critical and different for each property and ultimately each resident.

Our management have had 7 years experience with DDA improvements and regulation and have provided a key role in developing this area of our business.

Knowledge of the latest products and how these can be integrated for improvement in life cycle maintenance has been a key driver for LBE and CG in the partnership.

The Programme:The projects are all individually programmed but most properties are normally converted within 7 days.

Major refurbishments incorporating kitchens and stair lifts have taken up to 10 weeks.

All works are carried out in full occupation working around the residents with minimal inconvenience and maintenance of services.
